Brown Davis Motorsport Roll Cages

In any form of motorsport where safety is critical, the single most important aspect of the car is a properly engineered roll cage. Brown Davis has been engineering CAMS compliant roll cages for over 2 decades for some of the biggest names and teams in Australian motorsport. However, the experience does not only revolve around motorsport, in the early 90's Brown Davis was the first to engineer and produce a full Rollover Protection System in partnership with the Ambulance service of Victoria.

In order to comply with CAMS specification, roll cages must be constructed from specific materials and be constructed in accordance to the regulations outlined in the CAMS handbook. What seems to most as a few pieces welded inside a car, is in fact an elaborate labyrnth of stategically placed tubes and joins, engineered to handle massive rollover loads, designed to prevent the cabin deforming in on the occupants. It then becomes critical that all roll cages are fabricated meticulously and strictly in accordance with these specifications.

It is also important to state that different forms of motorsport require different levels of compliance with associated regulatory bodies in each respective class. Therefore, one must not look at a V8 supercar or such images above, and be scared by the intricacy of the roll cage design and think that is the normal system. Each roll cage needs to suit your particular vehicle and requirements and may look vastly different to high end forms of motorsport or something you have seen elsewhere.

Roll cages are constructed strictly from 350MPa minimum tensile strength CDS (Cold Drawn Seamless) 44.5o.d. x 3.5mm wall tube. The finish of the cage can vary depending on individual requirements from colored powdercoating to the basic flat black spray painting.
