    BROWN DAVIS IS BORN

    David Brown and Bill Davis open a small mechanical workshop in Bayswater, Melbourne. They specialised in motorsport vehicle preparation and fabrication. Half the building was used to house and prepare some of the Brian Wood Ford group C touring cars. The partnership with Bill Davis sadly only lasted 6 months but the name “Brown Davis” was set.

    THE FIRST EVER LONG RANGE FUEL TANK IS CREATED

    David and Rod Stephens Racing create a light weight aluminium fuel tank to give their Torana’s the extra laps they needed around Mount Panorama, Bathurst. Who knew this would soon lead to a close friend wanting this same principle applied to his 40 series Land Cruiser to get him to the tip of Cape York. Suddenly Brown Davis long range fuel tanks were born.

    LONG RANGE FUEL TANK PRODUCTION BEGINS

    Production of fuel tank begins for the most common 4WD’s. Re-seller’s start to pop up around Australia

  • 1990’S

    AMBULANCE SAFETY BUILD

    -After more then a decade of building roll cages in racing cars Brown Davis are approached to design, engineer, test and manufacture Roll Cages and other testings products for the Australian Ambulance Fleet.

    -Brown Davis outgrow factory and move large factory only 100m up the road.

    BUSHMASTER TANKS

    -Brown Davis wins contract to design, engineer and manufacture 3 different tanks for ADI (Australian Defence Industries). A hydraulic Fluid tank, Auxiliary back-up fuel tank and header coolant tank. More then 2000 units were sent all over the world.

    -Brown Davis long range fuel tanks are still growing in popularity and have become one of the most common 4wd accessories.
